Glamorama, Lori and Julia, and Constant Public Adjustment

IMG_2280.jpgMacy's Glamorama this year was, well, fine.  I go because it has traditionally been one of the better parties to benefit a cause.  In this case Children's Cancer Research.  It has also been, (other than the State Fair) a tradition where FM 107's Lori and Julia and I laugh and dance and celebrate the beginning of the end of Summer.

I have been noticing something more and more when I attend these parties, however.  Constant costume and hair malfunctions that seem to need constant adjustment.  Never have I looked across the room and seen so man women adjusting their undergarments, dresses, and playing with their hair.

Here's a tip: Get everything adjusted when you buy your outfit and before you attend an event.  If things need to be adjusted after you arrive, that's where the traditional "powdering of the nose" comes in.  You use the restroom.

The constant and never ending bra, dress and hair touching and adjusting makes you look self conscious and insecure.  No question this is a party where you can let your hair down, but don't let yourself down.  Think put together, not falling apart.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Please wear your outfit (complete with undergarments) for an hour or so several days before the event. This way you'll know if there are any adjustments that need to be made.

Do a trial run with hair and makeup.

I feel so sorry for those women who look like they're doing some sort of weird version of the Macarena as they check and adjust. It seems to be especially bad for young women wearing strapless dresses for the first time. Well, to be honest, I feel sorry for them for several minutes, then my attitude slips to slightly annoyed.
