Of the many questions I get, the number one has to be: "Do you know of anyone [in my area] who does what you do?
And my answer is usually, "no." I really don't have a group of associates across the country who do what I do. Though there are obviously thousands of talented hairdressers, make up artists and people who can do silhouette analysis across the country.
I just don't know who they are!
If you are, or know of, someone who understands the art of the "over 40" makeover please let me know. I'd like to start a page on my website with links to stylists (not just salons) who understand how to help women look their best in makeup, hair and clothing as they mature.
Please comment here!!

Christopher,
I completely understand the 'second act' woman as I am one! Designing in the Fashion and Clothing industries for years, I feel most rewarded by empowering other women to feel confident about themselves! For years I have been aiding family and friends in their wardrobe choices as Personal Shopper, Wardrobe Consultant, and Design Expert for color, form and fit. They love when I point out what looks great on them because it accentuates a beautiful feature!
When helping someone select an ideal outfit to suit their personal style and situation, it's great to get all the details set from head to toe. That way, they no longer have a care or worry, can feel pulled together and are free to focus on the interview, the event, etc.
I have only just realized that I can employ these skills for others! I am just setting up now so if you have any advice, I'd be thrilled to listen!
Thanks!

Christopher,
I am a hairstylist, I live in Omaha Nebraska and I bought your book after reading about it in Modern Salon magazine in 2007 or early 2008. I am sure Omaha sold a ton of your books, because every 50ish woman client I shared the book with either bought one for herself or picked one up for a friend!!!
I am 44, and have been a hairstylist for 25 years. I was feeling a bit insecure about my aging clients (I am not far behind them) and how to advise them about appropriate hair and clothing styles during the second act of their lives. Your book was entertaining while delivering sensitive instruction on a sometimes delicate conversation between stylist and client. I would recommend this book to any stylist who is looking to desensitize the subject of change to new and existing clients, also just to have a fresh conversation rather than the same old topics we repeat day after day after day... A huge HUG fro me to you Christopher! You are a very talented stylist, a gifted communicator and a complete beauty professional.
There is a class offered in New York at the Redken Hair Color Exchange called "Color and Know Why" I think the clothing chapters in your book should be called "Shop and Know Why" My clients were blown away at the time they saved while shopping because they were trying on the clothes that would look the best on their body type and their flavor. It made shopping more enjoyable for them and for for me as well.
I would love to visit your salon to watch and learn from you and your staff. Do you teach any classes for the salon professional?
Your #1 fan in Omaha,
Trish Thompson
Thanks, Trish!!!
At the moment, no classes planned (I'm am working on classes to help women stage their comebacks, however).
The best part of this journey is emails and posts like yours. Thank you, again.
Please stop in anytime, you are certainly welcome to peruse the salon if you are in town. And, of course, take a much needed moment for getting your OWN pampering!
