Anti Aging or ProYouth?

Whenever I see those two words anti and aging put together, whether on a product, a book or a magazine I stop everything and check it out.  My heart starts to race and I think "is THIS it?  Is this the NEXT thing I can try?"  I actually have an anti aging journal to keep track of what works, and what doesn't.  It includes a list of supplements, what they do and when to take them.  I have my trainers, my cosmetic surgeons, my hair, face and body people all ready at the touch of my cell phone. When discussing anti aging, I can hold a conversation for a good two hours without anyone else chiming in.  In fact, sometimes it's just me in the room.  And I'm completely interested in myself.

I am, however, conflicted with the word combo:  anti aging.  I'm not anti aging, really.   I love aging.  I wouldn't want to be another age, and I look forward to many years ahead when I get to be old.  I'm excited to be old, actually.  I loved being young, I'm enjoying middle age, and I think being old will be just swell.

Swell, if I don't age much.  Swell if I can feel strong, confident, competent and attractive.  If I can fremain robust and virile with a positive mindset, I think being old will be great.  If I can be young when I'm old.

No, I'm not anti aging.  I'm more...pro youth.  I like youth.  I like looking, feeling and being youthful.  I've felt and looked older than I do now and I didn't like it.  Yes, I think young is the way to go.

People often look at me sideways on this topic.  "You're obsessed."  Yes, and you have more wrinkles than I do.  "You can't be young forever."  Really?  Watch me.  "You don't want to look like Joan Rivers."  Don't worry; I'm not using her surgeon.  "Don't you think you should just accept the natural law of aging?"  Absolutely not -- and pull out that chin hair.

Today we have the tools to look and feel, act and be several years younger than has ever been possible before.  Right now I look better, am stronger and a hell of lot smarter than I was at 21.  It has little to do with genetics and a lot to do with a consistent anti-aging program.  Does it cost money?  Yes.  But to feel you're just beginning the climb instead of on your way down is priceless.

To me, that is what anti aging is about.  Having more time.  More time to get it right.  More time to do what we came to do and be who we came to be, with more time to enjoy the process.

I intend to be young, interested and feeling good for as long as possible.  So, if it takes skin-care regimens, make-up, lasers and surgery, I'll do it.  If it takes diet, supplements, weight training and stretching, I'm on it.  If it takes meditation, affirmation, confirmation, proclamation or just plain burning desire -- then that's what it takes.  I'm going to be young when I'm old.  It just makes the future a brighter prospect.
